Debbie Eikle Thompson has an awesome talent. She can pull a story out of thin air. Sometimes she has an idea of where she’s going when she begans, but sometimes not. Either way – she’ll take you somewhere captivating.
During the holiday season of 2017, Debbie began selling custom-told stories for children as Christmas gifts. People can get in touch with Debbie and share a few details about their kids, and she develops a story that’s all about them!
Of course, if you’ve never seen Debbie practise her craft, you don’t know what you’re getting, so we made a video to demonstrate.
Aside from pointing the camera, this video is one of those that creates itself. As a social video, it’s a unique kind of content. From her tiny facebook page of one-hundred-and-something likes, this video was shared dozens of times, and collected over 2,300 views. It helped her spread the word about her offering.
It never ceases to amaze me how many talented and smart people are out there sharing their gifts with the people around them, when the potential audience for their work might be exponentially greater.
Creative production and design can make things looks slick, but if you’ve already got great talent or content sometimes all it takes is a decent camera and microphone, and a helping hand to press record and wave you on.
